Study With FM helps students and families make informed decisions about education abroad, prepare strong applications and move with confidence. We support students from school age through undergraduate, postgraduate and professional study.
Our work does not have to end when a student receives an offer or visa decision. Depending on the services chosen, we can also help with preparation, arrival and settling into life in a new country.
Our founder's story
Study With FM was founded in 2018 by Mahin Shafiei, whose experience in education and student support spans more than 20 years. With an academic background in psychology, education and special educational needs, Mahin had spent years helping students and families make important decisions about their futures.
She recognised a recurring problem: support for studying abroad was often fragmented. A student might receive help choosing a university but then have to navigate applications, visa requirements, relocation and settling in without the same continuity of support.
Mahin wanted to build something more complete. She established Study With FM to bring education planning, course and institution selection, applications, general visa-process guidance and practical relocation support together in one service.
The company began as a small team helping Iranian students pursue education in the UK. Originally from Iran and based in London for more than 20 years, Mahin understood both the opportunities of international education and the uncertainties students and families can face when navigating another country's education system.
Study With FM has since grown into an international team operating across London, Ibadan and Tehran, supporting students from different backgrounds and exploring a wide range of study pathways.
Mahin's approach remains personal. A family seeking a school for a younger child, a student preparing for a foundation or undergraduate programme, and a professional considering a master's degree or PhD will all have different priorities. Academic goals matter, but so do learning needs, family circumstances, finances and the practical realities of moving abroad.
As Founder and Director, Mahin continues to oversee the company's direction, operations, student experience and educational relationships. She remains involved in individual cases, both directly and in support of the wider team. Her aim is the same as it was in 2018: to make the journey towards education abroad clearer, more personal and less overwhelming.
Mahin Shafiei
Founder & Director, Study With FM
“Education is never one-size-fits-all. Every student has a different story, different ambitions and different needs. My aim has always been to understand the person first, and then make the journey ahead as clear, supportive and stress-free as possible.”
Mahin has more than 20 years of experience in education and student support. She holds a bachelor's degree in the Psychology of Exceptional Children and a master's degree in Clinical Psychology, reflecting her academic background in psychology, education and special educational needs.
Originally from Iran and based in London for more than 20 years, she combines an understanding of international education with experience supporting students and families through academic decisions, school and university applications, practical visa-process preparation, relocation and student wellbeing.
As Director, she oversees operations, student experience, educational relationships and the development of Study With FM's international services. Her areas of experience include educational counselling, special educational needs, international study pathways, relocation support and helping families identify options suited to their circumstances.
What our service is built on
Personal attention
We begin by understanding each student's academic background, ambitions, budget, language needs and personal circumstances before recommending suitable options.
Honest guidance
If a destination, course or institution is not a realistic match, we say so early. Clear advice helps families make better decisions and avoid unnecessary costs.
Long-term commitment
Our relationship with a student does not have to end with an offer or a visa decision. Where agreed, support can continue through arrival, settling in and future education decisions.
Student-first recommendations
We put our clients' interests first. Our recommendations are guided by the student's needs and circumstances, not by which option is most commercially beneficial to us.
Professional care
We help clients understand requirements, organise application documents, keep track of deadlines and prepare carefully for each stage of their chosen service.
Family-focused support
Studying abroad often affects the whole family. We take account of parents, spouses, dependants and accompanying children when helping clients consider their options.
What makes Study With FM different
More than an application service, Study With FM brings education planning and practical support together, with guidance tailored to the individual.
Support beyond admission
Depending on the agreed service, we can help with pre-departure planning, accommodation assistance, airport collection, transport to a school or university, local orientation and settling in. Guardianship coordination for younger students is also available where appropriate.
Study options at every stage
We support applications for primary and secondary schools, boarding schools, sixth forms, summer programmes, foundation pathways, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and doctoral study.
Three offices working together
Our teams in London, Ibadan and Tehran bring local understanding and international experience to the same student journey, with support across different regions and time zones.
The family is part of the plan
For students moving with family members, we consider practical needs early, including accommodation, education for accompanying children and the possible effect of destination-specific dependant rules.
Clear boundaries and realistic expectations
We do not guarantee admission, scholarships or visas. We help students understand published requirements and organise their applications. We provide general visa-process information, but do not provide regulated UK immigration advice. When personalised immigration advice is required, we can refer students to appropriately regulated professionals.
An individual approach shaped by experience
Mahin's background in psychology, education and special educational needs influences how we work: understanding the person first, rather than expecting every student to fit the same process.
Three offices, one connected team
We work across London, Ibadan and Tehran. Students and families can contact the office most convenient for them, or send an enquiry and let our team direct it to the right person. Support is available in the languages listed below.

Built on long-term relationships
Many of the students and families we work with stay in touch after their initial application. Some return for further guidance; others recommend us to relatives and friends.
Mahin is still in contact with the very first student supported by Study With FM. For us, that continuing relationship reflects what personalised support should mean.
