Education & Career Planning
Make informed decisions about what, where and how to study.
Your education choices should reflect your qualifications, interests, ambitions, budget and personal circumstances. Study With FM helps you explore suitable courses, institutions and destinations, compare possible routes and understand what to do next.
Whether you have a clear goal or are still deciding, we can help you approach your options with greater clarity.
Unsure which direction to take?
Choosing a course, qualification or study destination raises important questions. Which level of study is appropriate? Do your qualifications meet the entry requirements? Which institutions fit your priorities and budget? Would a foundation or alternative pathway make more sense? And when should you apply?
We help you work through these decisions in a structured way, so that your next step is based on relevant information rather than guesswork.
What we can help you explore
Education & Career Planning is a personalised advisory service. We begin with your academic background, interests, goals and circumstances, then focus on the decisions that matter to you.
That may mean comparing subjects or institutions, exploring different education systems, considering a foundation or alternative route, or working out which options fit your budget and timescale. We can also discuss how study choices relate to your longer-term academic and career goals. The exact focus depends on your needs and the support agreed.
What you can take away
Our aim is to help you make a more informed education decision. Depending on your circumstances, you may come away with a clearer sense of your goals, possible subjects and qualifications, suitable study destinations, institutions or programme types to investigate, relevant requirements and costs, and the steps needed to move towards an application.
Where appropriate, we can also discuss alternatives if your first-choice route is not currently realistic. Recommendations may be shared during a conversation or through follow-up messages; a formal written report is not a standard inclusion.
What may be included
The support provided is tailored to your case and may include:
- Initial profile review: Discussing your education, qualifications, goals and preferences.
- Academic pathway planning: Exploring appropriate levels of study and qualification routes.
- Course and subject exploration: Comparing relevant areas of study and programmes.
- Destination comparison: Considering important differences between countries and education systems.
- Institution and programme research: Identifying potentially suitable universities, colleges, schools or pathway providers.
- Entry-requirement review: Comparing your profile with published academic, language and admissions criteria.
- Cost considerations: Reviewing published tuition fees and indicative living expenses.
- Application planning: Identifying intakes, deadlines and the practical steps towards applying.
- Alternative pathway discussion: Exploring other options where direct entry may not be suitable.
Not every element is needed or included in every engagement. We will explain the support relevant to your circumstances.
What is not automatically included
Unless separately agreed as part of your service, education planning does not include:
- Completing or submitting university, college or school applications.
- Writing personal statements, application essays or other application documents.
- Preparing documents or arranging certified translations.
- Applying for scholarships or other funding.
- Completing visa applications or providing regulated immigration advice.
- Booking accommodation or travel.
- A formal written education or career-planning report.
- University, school, government or other third-party fees and expenses.
Other Study With FM services may be available separately, depending on your needs, destination and the support offered. No service can guarantee admission, a scholarship, a visa, employment or a particular career outcome.
How it works
Tell us about yourself
We ask about your education, qualifications and grades, interests, preferred subjects or careers, destinations, budget, intended intake, language ability and any relevant experience or circumstances. You do not need to have every answer before your first conversation.
We review your situation
We examine the information you provide, identify your priorities and decide which questions need further discussion or research. We normally review an initial case within 2 working days of receiving enough information to assess it. Complex cases may take longer.
We research and compare options
Where relevant, we look at courses, institutions, countries, qualification routes, published entry requirements, costs, intakes and progression opportunities. The depth of research depends on your case and agreed service.
We explain your options and next steps
We discuss the options that appear most suitable, important differences between them and any requirements or limitations to consider. Guidance may be given during a consultation, in follow-up conversations, through WhatsApp or another agreed channel, or as a more detailed step-by-step plan where appropriate.
We discuss further support if needed
If you choose to apply or need help with another stage, we can explain the additional services available. Any separate scope of work and applicable fees will be discussed before you decide whether to proceed.
How long does it take?
We normally carry out the initial case review within 2 working days once we have the information needed. This is not a promise that all research or planning will be finished within that period.
More time may be needed to compare several countries or institutions, investigate specialist courses or unfamiliar qualifications, consider complex academic circumstances, or obtain further information from you. We will discuss the next steps as your case develops.
How will I receive my recommendations?
We may explain recommendations verbally, discuss them during follow-up conversations or send practical next steps through WhatsApp or another agreed communication channel. A more detailed written plan may be provided where appropriate and agreed, but a formal written report is not automatically included.
What we need from you
Accurate information helps us give more relevant guidance. Depending on your case, we may ask for:
- Your current education level, academic history, qualifications and grades.
- Transcripts or certificates, if needed for a more detailed review.
- Subjects of interest, career goals and relevant experience.
- Preferred institutions, countries and intended start date.
- Your approximate budget and language ability.
- Relevant previous applications or admissions decisions.
- Any personal or academic circumstances that may affect your choices.
You can begin with the information you have. If we need supporting documents later, we will explain what is required. Please tell us if your circumstances change.
Who is this service for?
Education & Career Planning can help:
- School students and families planning the next stage of education.
- Undergraduate, postgraduate and pathway applicants.
- Students choosing between courses, universities or countries.
- Students who want to change academic direction.
- Applicants with unusual qualifications or more complex entry circumstances.
- Anyone who wants to explore alternatives before beginning an application.
You do not need to have chosen a course or destination to get started.
How much does it cost?
Your initial introductory consultation is free. More detailed education and career-planning support may carry a fee for some clients. Where a fee applies, it is assessed case by case according to the complexity of your circumstances, the number of options or destinations being considered, and the research and support requested.
We will explain the proposed scope of work and any applicable fee before paid work begins. You can request written confirmation of the services and fees discussed. Additional Study With FM services and any university or other third-party charges are separate unless expressly agreed otherwise.
