School and Boarding School Applications
The right school. A stronger application. Support from start to finish.
Choosing a school is an important decision for every student and family. The right choice involves more than academic results: curriculum, school environment, location, day or boarding arrangements, fees, pastoral care and individual support needs all matter.
Study With FM helps families explore suitable schools, understand admissions requirements and manage applications with personalised guidance. From the first shortlist to interviews and offers, we help you make informed decisions and stay organised at every stage.
Finding the right school starts with the right questions
Which curriculum suits your child? Is day school or boarding the better option? What year should they enter, and when should you apply? Are entrance tests or interviews required? How will the school support your child's learning and wellbeing?
For families applying from overseas, there may also be questions about guardianship, accommodation and practical arrangements after admission. We help you consider these factors together rather than treating each application as a form to complete.
What you can expect
Depending on the support agreed, we can help your family develop:
- A clearer picture of the student's needs, strengths and priorities.
- A considered shortlist of schools to compare.
- An application plan covering requirements, documents and deadlines.
- Better preparation for entrance assessments and interviews.
- Accurate, well-organised applications and appropriate communication with schools.
- A clearer understanding of offers, conditions and next steps.
Our role is to improve the planning and preparation behind each application. The school makes the final admissions decision.
What our school application support includes
Student and family consultation
We begin with the student's age, current education, academic record, interests, intended entry year, preferred location, school-fee budget and family priorities. We also discuss any relevant special educational needs (SEN), disability or accessibility requirements.
School research and shortlisting
We compare schools against the factors that matter to your family, including academic fit, curriculum, boarding or day provision, location, pastoral support, extracurricular activities, admissions criteria and published costs. The student and their parent or guardian make the final choice of schools.
Admissions requirements and application planning
We help you understand each school's entry requirements and organise an application plan. Requirements may include school reports, grades, references, identification, statements, English-language information, entrance assessments or interviews.
Application preparation and school liaison
Depending on the agreed service, we help prepare application information, organise supporting documents, check submissions for completeness and coordinate applications. With the family's authorisation, we can contact admissions teams to clarify requirements, arrange admissions stages and follow up on an application.
All submitted information must be genuine and accurate. We do not fabricate grades, references, documents or achievements.
Entrance tests and interview preparation
Where required, we explain assessment formats, discuss common interview themes and provide appropriate preparation or practice. Students must complete their own assessments and assessed work.
Offers and next steps
We help families understand offer conditions, response deadlines, deposits, outstanding documents and enrolment instructions. Parents or guardians remain responsible for reviewing the school's terms before accepting an offer or making payments.
Schools We Work With
We work with and support applications to a range of schools and colleges, including:
- Thornton College
- Cardiff Sixth Form College
- Oxford International College
- Abbey College Malvern
- Rendcomb College
- Ackworth School
- Durham School
- Lime House School
- Read School
- Ashville College
- Windermere School
- Woodhouse Grove School
Study With FM is also a BBSN Approved Agent, supporting our work with families exploring British boarding-school education.
The available courses, places and admissions requirements depend on each institution and may change. We will discuss which current options best match the student's circumstances.
Boarding schools and educational guardianship
Boarding-school applications
We help families consider the academic and practical aspects of boarding: age and entry point, boarding arrangements, student welfare, location, extracurricular life, costs, entrance requirements and the school's support provision. A boarding-school place does not automatically include educational guardianship.
Educational guardianship
Some international students may need an educational guardian or other local welfare arrangements. Where appropriate, Study With FM can help arrange an external guardianship provider. In limited circumstances, we may provide educational guardianship support directly under a separate written arrangement.
Guardianship is not automatically included in school application support. The responsibilities and arrangements must be agreed separately. Educational guardianship does not automatically transfer legal parental responsibility.
SEN, disability and accessibility
We can take account of a student's SEN, disability, neurodivergence, communication needs, sensory needs or learning difficulties when researching schools and preparing applications. We help families identify relevant questions to ask about learning support, accessibility and pastoral provision.
No school is suitable for every student. The school's current provision must be considered alongside the student's individual needs. Study With FM does not provide medical or psychological diagnosis.
How the process works
- Initial consultation: We discuss the student's background, goals, preferred start date, budget and family priorities.
- School shortlist: We research and compare suitable options with you.
- Application plan: We identify requirements, deadlines, assessments and documents.
- Document preparation: We help organise and review the information needed.
- Applications and liaison: We coordinate the agreed applications and communicate with schools where authorised.
- Tests and interviews: We support appropriate preparation where these are required.
- Decisions and offers: We explain conditions, deadlines and admissions next steps.
- After an offer: We can discuss separately arranged services such as guardianship, accommodation, pre-departure planning and permitted visa-related assistance.
When should you start?
As early as reasonably possible. Some schools have fixed application cycles; others have more flexible admissions. Popular entry years and boarding places can fill quickly, and international applications may require additional time for assessments, documents and post-offer arrangements.
After your consultation, we can help establish a timeline for the schools you are considering. Meeting deadlines depends on receiving the required information and family decisions in time, as well as each school's own processes.
What we need from you
To recommend suitable schools and progress applications, we may ask for:
- The student's age, intended entry year and preferred start date.
- Current and previous schools, reports, grades and relevant references.
- Preferred destinations, curriculum and day-school or boarding options.
- Interests, extracurricular activities and future education plans.
- The family's school-fee budget and practical priorities.
- Relevant SEN, disability, accessibility or support requirements.
- Parent or guardian contact details and, when required for an application, identification information and school-specific documents.
We request information relevant to the student's needs and the agreed application process. Please make sure the information provided is complete and accurate.
Who this service is for
Our support is suitable for families considering UK schools, parents comparing day and boarding options, international families applying from abroad, students moving into sixth form or college, and families navigating a new education system. We can also support applicants preparing for admissions assessments or seeking schools that can respond to specific learning or accessibility needs.
A named adviser for your family
Every school application family is assigned a named Study With FM adviser. You have a consistent point of contact who understands your child's circumstances, explains the next steps and helps coordinate the support agreed for your application.
Fees and what is not included
School application support fees
Some applications are supported free of charge; other agreed services are competitively priced. We explain which arrangement applies to your family, what support is included and any Study With FM fee before work begins. Written confirmation of the scope and fee is available on request.
School fees and other third-party costs may still apply even where our application support is free.
School and third-party costs
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, our support does not cover school tuition or application fees, registration fees, deposits, boarding charges, entrance assessments, uniforms, accommodation, insurance, transport, flights, guardianship-provider fees, certified translations, visa fees or other external charges.
Private tutoring, medical or psychological assessments, legal advice, regulated immigration advice, airport collection, ongoing welfare visits and direct guardianship are also not automatically included. We will explain separately available services where relevant.
International students and visa information
Admission to a school and permission to enter or remain in a country are separate matters. Where appropriate and legally permitted, we can help families find published official visa information and organise practical administrative steps.
Study With FM is not registered with the UK Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) and does not provide regulated UK immigration advice or representation. Families needing personalised advice on a UK immigration matter should consult an appropriately authorised adviser. A school offer does not guarantee a visa.
